The
top two pictures are at Petoskey, MI; on the left, my station and on
the right SteppIR beam
antenna. I received my first amateur license while a high school
student in 1951. I am a life member of ARRL and on the DXCC
Honor Roll for Phone and CW. I used to do a lot of contesting
on both Phone and CW. On the wall, you can see some of the
awards for winning Phone & CW DX contests for Michigan
& the 8th ARRL call area contests. The rig is a FlexRadio 5000A, Alpha 87A. The complete station is computer controlled and automatically follows the FlexRadio 5000A. |

My previous calls were W9PEY, when I lived
in indiana, and W8JMO in Michigan. I became an Extra Class licensee in
1972 and received the call, W8FF in 1976. My XYL, Nancy, is W8JMQ and
has been licensed since 1961. |
Our home in Michigan is on an Island and
is a very good location for amateur radio. We spend summers in
Petoskey, Michigan on Oden Island and winters in Florida at
Port Charlotte, also on the water. The Quad Antenna in
Florida is on a 50 foot crank -up- tower which also supports low
band wire antennas. |
The SteppIR antenna is mounted
on a 72 foot crank-up tower (motorized) which also supports
wire antennas for the low bands. At the top is a Diamond
2M/440 X50 for VHF. I use computer logging and the
equipment is all computer controlled. |

The
next two pictures are of my station and antenna in Port Charlotte,
Florida. I have almost
the same equipment at both locations. The rigs are a FlexRadio
5000A and an Alpha 87A amplifier. We live on the salt water
in Florida so my antennas work well there also. I
am an instrument rated pilot and there some pictures of airplanes
we have owned. I also love fishing so there are few fish pictures
also. |
